Galles Communications Group, Inc., publishers of Greater Charlotte Biz, Charlotte's premier monthly business-to-business magazine, as well as other custom publications including economic development guides, small business guides, newcomer’s guides, and niche publications, is looking for a Creative Director-Graphic Designer who knows everything “from the bottom of the food chain to the top” and can bring the necessary creativity and graphic and design skills to the production of monthly publications from cover to cover including: paginated layout of text, images and advertising materials; creation and design of ad copy; prepress preparation of files; participation in editorial processes including communications with writers and photographers; familiarity with digital photography; and ability to upload files to a Web site.

Degree in graphic arts or graphic design required. Experience producing print publications of 48+ pages from cover to cover in Quark essential. Knowledge of differences in tif, eps, pdf, gif, jpg, png and other file formats essential. Ability to work with Acrobat pdf files essential. (No kidding.)

Advanced knowledge of Mac OS X-based Quark 6.0, Photoshop 7.0, Illustrator 10.0, Acrobat Professional 6.0, and FlightCheck 5.0 required. Excellent hands-on opportunity to contribute to the identity of a growing magazine and other unique publications.
